When I decided to do the series on Arkansas, it was because the state is far more beautiful than I could have ever imagined. One of the places I found to be one of my favorites was Eureka Springs. It’s nestled in the mountains, and the town is quaint. We loved our stay here and would encourage you to take a detour to visit. So, here we go…..

Thorncrown Chapel: This by far was one of my favorites! Thorncrown Chapel is a breathtaking architectural masterpiece nestled in the Ozark Mountains. Designed by renowned architect E. Fay Jones, this stunning chapel is known for its unique blend of natural light and modern design. With over 425 windows, the chapel offers a serene and inspiring atmosphere for meditation and reflection. The chapel’s dramatic structure, soaring ceilings, and stunning glasswork create a truly awe-inspiring experience. It was stunning!
Christ of The Ozarks: The Christ of the Ozarks is a massive statue of Jesus Christ overlooking Eureka Springs. Standing at 67 feet tall, it is one of the largest statues of Jesus in the world. Visitors can climb to the top of the statue for panoramic views of the surrounding area. The statue is a popular tourist attraction and a significant religious landmark in the region. It stands on the grounds of The Great Passion Play. Keith and I did a virtual tour of The Holy Land that I would recommend you do not miss.
Where To Stay
We are campers, so I will always list the places we camp in any area we visit. If you are not a camper, I have also listed a couple of hotels that Eureka Springs is known for.
- Lake Leatherwood: Lake Leatherwood, located near Eureka Springs, offers a serene outdoor experience for campers and nature enthusiasts. The lake’s crystal-clear waters, surrounded by lush forests, provide the perfect setting for swimming, boating, fishing, and hiking. The campground offers various amenities, including RV hookups, picnic areas, and hiking trails. Paddle boating with Tucker was an experience, but the hiking was amazing.

Keith and I thoroughly enjoyed this sweet town, and we will definitely make a return visit to explore even more. I would say the best time of year to visit is the fall because the fall foliage is breathtaking, and there are fewer crowds.
