A weekend away is exactly what we needed! We wanted time to spend together and enjoy time to connect. We enjoyed Kemah so much on our “Day at the Coast Date”, so we booked a beautiful B&B for the weekend.
Kemah, Texas has so many great places to explore. The outside boardwalk, dining and views of the boats coming in and out of the bay are definitely our favorites. In this post we will explore a few of the things we love the most about this little gem.
Where We Stayed: Captains Quarters
Captain’s Quarters was a pleasant surprise. We definitely enjoyed our stay and will return in the future for those amazing views on the balcony.
- The room was nice, not luxurious, but had all the necessary items. My recommendation would be to get the room with the balcony….a little more costly but worth waking up to that view.
- Balconies and the rooftop sunroom with 360* views of the water and boardwalk are amazing.
- Free WI-FI
- Coffee and tea in the room
- Private bathroom in each room
- Also, book through Captain’s Quarters instead of Air B&B so you can get the complimentary breakfast and snack basket. 🙂
Friday Dinner
I was craving some crab cakes and fish, so we decided on Landry’s. The evening was nice, dinner on the boardwalk was beautiful, and the sunset was breathtaking. The food was yummy. We got the crab cakes and I had the Cajun Pasta and Keith the Etoufee. We had a four-legged dinner guest (a calico cat); at least he wasn’t too intrusive. It was a great opportunity to enjoy each other and talk about great things to come. I definitely recommend the Landry’s Select Card…..lots of benefits for frequenting their many establishments and the food is always excellent.
The week was long, so after dinner we headed back to the Inn and sat for a while on the balcony. A good night’s sleep and then a Saturday of fun.
On a side note…..Kemah Boardwalk has family fun all around. There are shops, games, rides and a train, as well as, many restaurants for the whole family. Keith and I are not big amusement park people, but I know from people I know that it is a ton of fun. Try it out, and I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.
Saturday Morning Breakfast
Saturday morning start was coffee and the sunrise on the balcony. Breakfast was at a small diner in town a bit called The Pelican Grill. Food and service were very good, prices were reasonable and definitely had that personable small town diner feel.
The Dream
Those who know me would not be surprised when I tell you I have had a long-time dream of living on a boat. I want to simplify my life by living in a small space and be able to take my home to places that are new and exciting. To explore this new adventure we decided to visit a few marinas to see what was out there for both boats and places to live on them.
We visited several marinas, but Seabrook Marina is my favorite. It had a variety of boats to see and many who live aboard down there. We had the chance to visit a few, and it definitely made this life even more intriguing.
For me, this day was an amazing chance to envision my longtime dream with someone very special to me. Keith was intrigued and welcomed the adventure. He most definitely caught on to the idea after seeing the marinas and the gorgeous boats on this beautiful day.
Nap Time
Time to head back to the Captains Quarters for some rest and relaxation. We appreciated the time to relax and have no demands for a bit. We both balance very busy lives and this getaway was to disconnect from the crazy while connecting with each other.
Saturday Evening
Evening came, so we got ready, walked to some of the shops and bought some shirts for all of us. Tropical Express did not disappoint. We are t-shirt junkies and must have them wherever we visit. There was plenty of selection and we found the perfect ones.
After walking the shops, we decided on the Monkey Bar for dinner, drinks and music. The food was good, and the patio had a fun and relaxing atmosphere. The music was fantastic and we thoroughly enjoyed the evening.
Sunday Morning
We finished off our weekend on Sunday morning with the sunrise and coffee at Starbucks and then a drive to another town and another beach. Kemah has become one of our top places to visit and we go often. There’s much to do whether it be for the day or the weekend. We invite you to see for yourselves all it has to offer.
